An oxygen concentrator is an electronically operated
device that provides an uninterrupted supply of oxygen as
and when required at the touch of a button.
The oxygen concentrator draws in room air, separates the
oxygen from other gases in the air and delivers the oxygen
at high concentrations to the patient.
Although the concentrator filters oxygen from the room
air, it will not affect the normal amount of oxygen in the
room.
The new Devilbiss 525DS Oxygen Concentrator is smaller,
quieter, and uses less energy. The 525DS is the latest
Devilbiss Home Concentrator and provides improvements in
size, sound and energy efficiency.
Lightweight:
Weighing only 37-lbs, the new 525DS is 13-lbs lighter than
the 515ADS models.
Easy to use:
Not only does this DeVilbiss Oxygen Concentrator lead the
industry in reliability and durability, it provide unmatched
patient safety. The new 525DS features an attractive
minimalist design that is far less obtrusive in a patient's
home and now comes standard with O2 Sense. This new compact
concentrator provides unmatched performance, patient safety
and ease of use.
Patient Alert System:
The DeVilbiss Oxygen Concentrator patient alert system will
detect unit component failure. This system is comprised of
both visible and audible alerts which signal the patient if
a malfunction should occur.
Oxygen Sensing Device:
Exclusive DeVilbiss OSD (Oxygen Sensing Device) standard on
every unit, increases accuracy and reliability for longer
service intervals.
The OSD is a device within DeVilbiss concentrators that
monitors the oxygen produced by the unit. The OSD operates
as follows:
- Normal Oxygen (green light) - oxygen purity normal
- Low Oxygen (yellow light) - oxygen purity
low–requires servicing
Less Energy Consumption:
Energy-efficient design reduces power consumption by 15% or
more compared with competitive designs to save patients an
average of $100 in electricity costs annually. Power
consumption is about 300 Watts average at 5-liters per
minute. 2.5LPM and below run about 275 Watts.
Intake filter features a translucent back to allow user to
quickly determine if the filter is dirty.
How it works:
Devilbiss 525DS Oxygen concentrators are the most reliable,
efficient, and convenient source of supplemental oxygen
available today. The oxygen concentrator is electrically
operated. The unit separates oxygen from room air which
allows high-purity supplemental oxygen to be delivered to
you through the oxygen outlet. Although the concentrator
filters the oxygen in a room, it will not affect the normal
amount of oxygen in your room.
525DS highlights:
- Exclusive DeVilbiss OSD (Oxygen Sensing Device)
standard on every unit -- increases accuracy and
reliability for longer service intervals
- Readily accessible patient controls and protected
cannula fitting
- Recessed humidifier nook prevents damage
- Easy to assemble/disassemble two-piece cabinet for
ease of maintenance
- Lockable flow meter - Pediatric flow meter available
- Convenient top and side handles for easy transport
- Accommodates up to a 50-foot cannula (15.3 meters)
- Intake filter features a translucent back to allow
technician to quickly determine if the filter is dirty
Safety features found on all DeVilbiss oxygen concentrators
include:
- Pressure-compensated flow meter that maintains the
correct flow
- Pressure-relief valve and thermal protection on the
compressor
- Double-insulated unit; two-prong plug
- Flame-retardant cabinet
- High/low pressure alarms

OSD (Oxygen Sensing
Device) - the optional, patented microprocessor-controlled
ultrasonic monitoring device optimizes patient safety:
- Most accurate sensing device (2% deviation)
- Lifetime warranty on OSD
- No maintenance required, no parts to wear out, no
batteries to change
The OSD operates as follows:
- 85% and above = green LED
- 84.9-75% = yellow LED
- 74.9% and below = yellow LED and audible signal
Cooler Running.
10 to 15% cooler around the compressor, due to improved air
flow, means longer compressor life.
Most reliable oxygen
concentrator in the industry.
The Devilbiss Five-Liter Concentrator model 525DS offers
dual solenoid, three-position, four-way valve with lifetime
warranty increases shift efficiency, valve life, and
reliability.
3-Year Warranty.
Three year bumper-to-bumper warranty is standard on the Devilbiss 525DS Oxygen Concentrator models.

How does an oxygen concentrator work?
An oxygen concentrator is an electrical device that draws in
room air, separates the oxygen from the other gases and delivers
the oxygen at high concentrations to the patient. Room air is
drawn in via a small electric compressor through a series of
filters. The compressed air passes through two molecular sieve
beds, which removes the nitrogen. Waste gas is harmlessly
returned to the air and the process repeated. The oxygen is then
delivered via nasal cannula or a facemask to the patient. An
uninterrupted supply of oxygen as and when required is available
at the touch of a button and can be used 24 hours a day.
What percentage of oxygen does the 525 concentrator
deliver?
Over the range of 1—5 Litres per min the 525 provides 93% oxygen
+/- 3%. This purity has been tested to be clinically acceptable
for long-term oxygen therapy.
How often should I clean filters and other accessories?
The air filter and oxygen outlet connector should be removed and
washed once a week. Use warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and
air dry. The bubble humidifier should be washed daily using a
mild detergent and hot water.
Can I a low flow meter with the 525 concentrator?
Yes, please contact your local DeVilbiss technical service for
advice.
What length of tubing should I be using with the 525
concentrator?
The maximum recommendation is 15 metres (50 feet), a 2 metre (7
feet) cannula and a bubble humidifier.
What is the best way to transport a 525 concentrator in
the car?
It is not recommended to put the 525 in a boot or trunk of the
car as it involves tipping the unit. The best place is on a back
seat secured with the seat belt or wedged between the front and
back seats.
Can I use my 525 oxygen concentrator overseas?
You much check the voltage of the unit you have and the voltage
of the country that you are visiting. DeVilbiss manufacture two
units 525DS for 110V countries and 525KS for 240V countries. If
you need anymore advice please contact your local DeVilbiss
technical service.
What is Turn Down technology?
The 525 concentrator incorporates Turn Down technology. The PC
board constantly monitors the flow rate and will decrease the
cycle time whenever the flow rate is less than 2.5 LPM.
Therefore it “turns down” the cycle based on the lower oxygen
demand. As a result the unit runs cooler and less power is
consumed. This results in potential energy savings for the
patient and extended life of the unit.
How can I tell if the oxygen purity is good?
As long as the green O2 light is illuminated, the 525 is
delivering the proper purity of oxygen. If the purity drops
below the proper level, the yellow O2 light will be illuminated.
You may continue to use the 525 even though the yellow light is
on, but you should quickly find an alternative oxygen source. If
the purity continues to drop, the red service light will
illuminate. You should immediately find an alternative oxygen
source.
