How do I know if my Oxygen Concentrator is working?

You rely on your Oxygen Concentrator. So, how do you know if its working properly? Just because the machine is running, and air is coming out of the Outlet, does not necessarily mean it is high purity oxygen.

If your machine is older, and has 15,000 hours or more, the components inside could be worn out or not running optimally. I urge you to study the front of your machine. If it has a designation of "SenseO2" or "OPI" or maybe the model number of your Devilbiss ends in "DS" then your machine has the optional Oxygen Purity Sensor. This is a very good option to have. These machines have a built in Oxygen Purity sensor built in to the circuit board. After about 20 minutes of run time, your sensor will turn on and monitor the output oxygen purity. If your green light is illuminated, this means your machine is putting out at least 87% purity which is considered medical grade. If the yellow light is on, your machine needs some service. A good place to start is some replacement filters. We carry filters for most makes and models, and you can find them here.

If your machine does NOT have the built in purity sensor, then you will need to take your machine to a local oxygen supplier. They can test your machine with a handheld analyzer. They may charge you a few dollars for their time, but most places will do this for free. Please keep in mind that high purity Oxygen is EXTREMELY flammable. I have had people say that they know their machine works well because they put a lit match in front of the oxygen outlet. This is extremely dangerous and very foolish, please do not ever do this!

If your machine tests out at a low purity, and filters did not help remedy this issue, feel free to call us at 1-540-297-3257 or send an email to OxygenPlusMedical@Gmail.com if you want to send it in for repair.
