Invacare is a medical device and therapeutics manufacturer and seller. They are based in Elyria, Ohio and distribute medical devices worldwide.
Invacare traces their roots back to 1885 when the Worthington Company began producing a line of vehicles for people with physical disabilities. The Worthington Company grew and changed until they were purchased by Johnson & Johnson in the late 1970s, at that time part of a company known as Technicare. Johnson & Johnson decided to sell the wheelchair division known as Invacare.
A. Malachi Mixon III organized a small group of investors and purchased the Invacare division. Since that time, Invacare has developed products such as the split-spring bed, the microprocessor controlled power chair, their proprietary oxygen system and a gearless, brushless motor. Invacare has also grown through the acquisitions of Küschall, Carters, Poirier and Scandinavian Mobility.
Invacare has grown from three factories to thirty factories, over five thousand employees and net sales of $1.4 billion and listed on the NYSE.
While Invacare no longer produces new Oxygen Equipment (they sold this branch to another company called React Healthcare), the fact remains that Invacare Oxygen Concentrators are among the best and most reliable ever made.
The older Invacare Platinum 5LPM is one of the best machines ever made. They run forever and are easy to repair and maintain. This machine was downsized to keep up with competition, and was renamed the Perfecto2. While the internal components are almost identical with the Platinum, the packaging of the machine (smaller, more compact) makes it run a little warmer, which shortens its life a little compared to its predecessor. Perfecto is still a great machine though!
And if you need to fill Oxygen Cylinders, you simply cannot go wrong with Invacare Homefill. All of our Homefill systems are repaired in house with OEM components, so you receive like new reliability at a reconditioned price!
